Botanical Garden Tour
The Botanical Garden Tour takes visitors on a meandering walk through the grounds of the historic garden. The tour covers the history of the garden (including information about this Works Progress Administration-funded project) and various exhibits and plant collections throughout the garden. This walking tour lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours and departs from the entrance of the Botanical Garden. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing suited for the weather.

Ancient Tree Tour of City Park
The Ancient Tree Tour walks visitors through the majestic stand of live oaks growing along City Park Avenue, the largest and oldest trees in City Park. Each live oak is named for a notable person in City Park’s history, and on this tour visitors learn about these benefactors and the fascinating history of our beloved park and city. This walking tour lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours and departs from the Dueling Oaks, located on the left side of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden.

The New Orleans Botanical Garden hosts a variety of educational classes, workshops, tours, and family activities designed to introduce the wonders of the natural world to all ages and levels of interest - from Master Gardeners to kindergartners. We offer adult classes for avid horticulturalists, scavenger hunts and other family-friendly activities, classes for “growing gardeners” and educational tours for school field trip outings.
