At her request, upon her death in 1914, New Orleans philanthropist Sara Lavinia Hyamsí jewelry collection (valued at $30,000/at that time) was sold and the proceeds were used to construct a fountain for the children of New Orleans. The fountain is located inside the gates of Carousel Gardens.
