    Series Features Extended Hours, Entertainment, and Free Admission on Wednesday evenings in October.
    Free Hours for LA residents: 10 am to 8 pm
    Special Programing: 5 pm to 8 pm
    Enter through the Oscar J. Tolmas Building at 5 Victory Avenue
    The New Orleans Botanical Garden will extend its hours to 8 pm every Wednesday during the month of October to celebrate "Evenings with Enrique." Each week, "Evenings with Enrique" will feature local musicians playing among the collection of 16 sculptures by the famed Mexican-American artist.     Join us for a morning of volunteering in New Orleans City Park! We cannot keep the Park looking as good as it does without the help from the community. Meet a little before 9am and work until noon. To sign up and get details on that day's meet-up location, contact Tyler Havens at thavens@nocp.org. Always wear closed-toe shoes and sunscreen and bring a water bottle. We are very appreciate of al of our volunteers.

  • Celebration in the Oaks Preview Party (21+)

    One of the premier parties of the holiday season in New Orleans, this dazzling soiree kicks off the annual lights display. Guests get the first glimpse of the lights and are given exclusive access to the Botanical Garden and Train Route. Enjoy food and spirits from over 30 restaurants while dancing to live music.

    Hours: 7:30 pm – 11pm

    Please note:

    -Holiday cocktail attire required (no jeans) You will be turned away at the door if you arrive not in at least cocktail attire.
    -No one under 21 years old will be admitted.
    -All sales are final – no refunds or rain checks are given.

    This event takes place in Carousel Gardens. Join us in celebrating the start of the season! This is a party for the whole family and the whole family will have a blast! Tickets for this event tend to sell out before the event. Don't wait to get yours. Only a certain number of tickets will be sold, and once sold out, no tickets will be sold at the door. Kids get the royal holiday treatment at their own Celebration in the Oaks Party and – bonus! – mom and dad can enjoy this family experience without lifting a finger.   • Artful Training of Niwa-ki (庭木)

    This class was rescheduled from January 19th to the 26th due to rain

    Niwaki is a word meaning “Sculpting Tree’ and is used in Japanese garden design. Robin Tanner will discuss various methods used in sculpting the Japanese maple.

    This class is outside, wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Meet at the Arrival Garden just inside the New Orleans Botanical Garden as you enter from the Tolmas Center (5 Victory Ave).
    Robin Tanner has a Landscape Architecture degree from Louisiana State University. He studied Japanese Gardens in Japan working with a garden maker. He has spent decades in practicing Landscape Architecture and a lifelong student of Japanese Gardens. Robin designed and installed the Japanese Garden, the Southern Shade Garden, and the Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Botanical Garden.
