  • Free Zumba Class

    Join your friends for free Zumba classes at the Peristyle in New Orleans City Park. New Orleans City Park and Ochsner are excited to bring the community yet another way to exercise in the Park. Come ready to dance away stress and have some fun. Wear appropriate workout attire, gym shoes, and bring H2O as you’ll work up a sweat! Though the class will be offered rain or shine, should you be curious about a class please call 733-1600.

  • Super Saturday Volunteer Day

    Join us for a morning of volunteering in New Orleans City Park! We cannot keep the Park looking as good as it does without the help from the community. Meet a little before 9am and work until noon. To sign up and get details on that day's meet-up location, contact Tyler Havens at thavens@nocp.org. Always wear closed-toe shoes and sunscreen and bring a water bottle. We are very appreciate of al of our volunteers.

    Join us for a fabulous garden experience!
    Growing Gardeners is our program for children ages six to nine who want to have some fun in our garden, and learn about—and play with—plants, food, and ecosystems
    There’s so much to do in the Botanical Garden, and we would love to help your child do it all. Classes cost $17 each, but are $14 when you register for six classes (three months) at one time.

  • Heart of the Park Hat Luncheon

    The proceeds from this luncheon will benefit the management and protection of the Park’s magnificent trees as well as community projects of the New Orleans Town Gardeners, such as Edible Schoolyard, Grow Dat Youth Farm in City Park, and the grounds of Latter Library. Guests arrive in their finest spring ensembles and don their fabulous chapeaux. The luncheon will feature a gourmet lunch, sparkling champagne, fabulous music, and surprises galore!   • Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation Beach Sweep 2019

    Each year the Ocean Conservancy hosts an INTERNATIONAL Coastal Cleanup Day. Beach Sweep is the biggest community cleanup in Southeastern Louisiana. Last year we picked up 58,665 lbs. of trash from our streets, catch basins, and waterways around the basin. Let's come together to care for their neighborhoods and areas that drain the Pontchartrain Basin. Together we'll clean curbs, ditches, and storm drains on city streets and rural roadways. Want to take part?! Participate as part of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (LPBF) Beach Sweep here in City Park!

    For anyone who would like to participate with us in City Park:

    1. Register here

    2. Write “City Park” in the box that asks “Where will you be sweeping?”

    3. Meet us at the volunteer center 1031 Harrison Ave at 9:00am on 9/21/19 to sign in and pick up supplies.

    All registered participants are welcome at the LPBF after party at the New Canal Lighthouse!

    In September, Growing Gardeners go native! Explore the meaning of native plants and their importance for the planet. Growing Gardeners will spend time in the Botanical Garden’s Native Plant Garden and learn why we plant natives in our gardens.

  • Collecting Seed from Louisiana Native Plants

    Marc will discuss collecting and storing seed and some methods of propagating native wildflowers and grasses of Louisiana. He will touch on the requirements of specific species and will focus on those species that are hardest to grow. Feel free to bring questions about plants you may be interested in growing in your garden.

    Marc Pastorek is an environmentalist with a deep interest in natural systems and their restoration and management. He is co-founder of Pastorek Habitats, a landscape design and consulting firm that specializes in restoring native grassland habitat. Marc is a contributor to the new book Southeastern Grasslands: Biodiversity, Ecology and Management, University of Alabama press. He and his wife Candi operate their business as partners and live and garden in Covington, Louisiana.
