  • Super Saturday Volunteer Day

    Join us for a morning of volunteering in New Orleans City Park! We cannot keep the Park looking as good as it does without the help from the community. Meet a little before 9am and work until noon. To sign up and get details on that day's meet-up location, contact Tyler Havens at thavens@nocp.org. Always wear closed-toe shoes and sunscreen and bring a water bottle. We are very appreciate of al of our volunteers.

    Friday Nights at NOMA: Tulane Maya Symposium | Music by Patrice Fisher and ARPA: Friday Nights at NOMA offers an exciting lineup of programs on select dates in 2019: live music, movies, children’s activities, and more. Regular admission prices apply—NOMA members are FREE—but there is no extra charge for programs or films. All galleries, the Museum Shop, and Café NOMA remain open till 9 pm.

    5 – 8 pm: Art on the Spot family activity table
    5:30 – 8:30 pm: Music by Patrice Fisher and ARPA
    6 pm: Keynote speech by Jeremy A. Sobloff of the Santa Fe Institute titled “Is ‘Collapse’ a Useful Term in Understanding Pre-Columbian Maya History?”

  • Yoga in the Sculpture Garden

    NOMA, in collaboration with the East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every Saturday morning. Join us for yoga surrounded by NOMA’s outstanding permanent collection, or if weather permitting, in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Classes are $5; FREE for NOMA members and East Jefferson Wellness Center members. To register for yoga, call East Jefferson Healthfinder at (504) 456-5000.

  • Mindfulness Class

    NOMA presents a mindfulness class with Dr. Jayashree Rao. Mindfulness is defined as experiencing the present moment with open curiosity, without judgment, and with a willingness to be with what is.

    Mindfulness training teaches skills to help individuals: Cope with the stress, pain, and challenges of everyday life; Deal with disturbing events with grace and composure; Be present and alive in the here and now

    About mindfulness classes at NOMA:  This eight-part mindfulness series will be held on Saturdays from 10–11:30. Classes will take place February  16, 23, March 9 and 16. There will be no class on March 2 of Mardi Gras weekend.

    Maximum class size is 30. Participants sign up for the series not per class. Participants will meet in the second-floor Woldenberg Board Room. Click here for more informtaion.

    Join NOMA’s docents for a free guided tour of the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden on Saturdays and Mondays, weather dependent, at noon. (Call 504.658.4153 to verify.) Sited on five acres adjacent to the museum, the garden contains more than sixty works by renowned sculptors placed among a picturesque mature grove of pine, magnolia, and moss-draped live oak trees bisected by a lagoon. Represented sculptors include Pierre Auguste Renoir, Rene Magritte, Henry Moore, Isamu Noguchi, and Robert Indiana, among others. Meet at the gates to the garden, which offers free admission year-round.

    NOMA, in collaboration with the East Jefferson Wellness Center, offers wellness classes every  Monday evening. East Jefferson Wellness Center instructor Terry Rappold leads relaxing Tai Chi exercises in various art galleries at NOMA.     Please join us for public meetings to learn about the important upcoming election. Click here for more information and a list of FAQs. What is on the ballot on May 4, 2019? On May 4th, the voters of New Orleans will vote on a ballot proposal for parks and recreation that will affect the quality of life for all our citizens. They will vote on the renewal and re-allocation of the current 6.31 millages already dedicated to parks in the City. The re-allocation allows for a more equitable distribution of the taxpayer dollars ALREADY supporting parks and recreation in the City and includes City Park in that distribution for the first time in the Park’s history.

  • On Collecting: Photography

    The first of a new curator-led program series at NOMA, On Collecting workshops draw on specialist knowledge and practical expertise to develop practical tools and techniques that can enable the building of a successful private collection. For one night only, Russell Lord, Freeman Family Curator of Photographs, and Brian Piper, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Fellow for Photography, will discuss the collection of photography, presented in conjunction with Past, Present, & Future: Building Photography at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

    $75 for NOMA members | $100 nonmembers

    Join kids ages 18 months to 4 years old under the Enrique Alférez Oak for storytime, activities, and a healthy snack. Kids won’t want to miss this! Enter through the Tolmas Visitor Center (5 Victory Avenue). This 'class' is the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Admission is needed for each child but the required adult chaperone is free.
