    This is a large event in the Park. Always contact festival directors directly with questions (City Park does not run this event. City Park is a venue).   • Halloween at City Putt

    Celebrate Halloween at City Putt with a round of mini golf and some extra treats! The event runs October 25, 26, 27 from 2pm to 9pm. For $9 per adult and $7 per child, enjoy a round of mini golf, a sweet treat and candy, a beverage (cocktail, beer, or soda), craft table for the kids, and a free raffle ticket! Buy your tickets at the door.

    Special Programing: 5 pm to 8 pm
    Enter through the Oscar J. Tolmas Building at 5 Victory Avenue
    The New Orleans Botanical Garden will extend its hours to 8 pm every Wednesday during the month of October to celebrate "Evenings with Enrique." Each week, "Evenings with Enrique" will feature local musicians playing among the collection of 16 sculptures by the famed Mexican-American artist.   • Super Saturday Volunteer Day

    Join us for a morning of volunteering in New Orleans City Park! We cannot keep the Park looking as good as it does without the help from the community. Meet a little before 9am and work until noon. To sign up and get details on that day's meet-up location, contact Tyler Havens at thavens@nocp.org. Always wear closed-toe shoes and sunscreen and bring a water bottle. We are very appreciate of al of our volunteers.

  • Creating Bonsai from Garden Center Stock

    In this three hour hands on workshop, you will learn bonsai basics and you will create your very own bonsai tree. If you have ever wanted to learn the art of bonsai and how these living works of art are created, then this workshop is for you! Bring your own bonsai pot if you wish as special bonsai soil will be provided. What to bring: sharp pair of scissors, garden gloves, and apron. Soil, wire, and a Juniper will be provided. Class limit 15

    Jim Osborne is a native to New Orleans and an “Award Winning Bonsai Artist” winning the 2008 Vaughn Banting award.  He has served as a Board of Director for the past seven years and is past Vice-President and past President of the Bonsai Society. He has displayed his personal bonsai collection in the fall and spring New Orleans Botanical Garden Flower Show for many years. Jim has also displayed his bonsai at Art in Bloom in the New Orleans Museum of Art.

    Join us for a fabulous garden experience!
    Growing Gardeners is our program for children ages six to nine who want to have some fun in our garden, and learn about—and play with—plants, food, and ecosystems
    There’s so much to do in the Botanical Garden, and we would love to help your child do it all. Classes cost $17 each, but are $14 when you register for six classes (three months) at one time.

    As the fall harvest comes to a close, Growing Gardeners will spend this month learning all about preservation in the garden. From seed collecting to pickling, Growing Gardeners practice techniques to preserve their vegetables for future planting and eating!

  • Celebration in the Oaks Preview Party (21+)

    One of the premier parties of the holiday season in New Orleans, this dazzling soiree kicks off the annual lights display. Guests get the first glimpse of the lights and are given exclusive access to the Botanical Garden and Train Route. Enjoy food and spirits from over 30 restaurants while dancing to live music.

    Please note:

    -Holiday cocktail attire required (no jeans) You will be turned away at the door if you arrive not in at least cocktail attire.
    -No one under 21 years old will be admitted.
    -All sales are final – no refunds or rain checks are given.

    This month, Growing Gardeners take a trip down the bayou and explore our coastal wetlands. Join the Growing Gardeners as we learn about the incredible ecosystem of our coastal wetlands and put on our lab coat to perform experiments on water quality and soil erosion.

  • Flower Pressing

    ArtBotanical GardenEducation

    This workshop will cover instructions on how to press flowers, which plants work and how long to dry them, we will also have discussion about the many uses of pressed flowers. Each participant will make a bookmark and a greeting card using pressed flowers to take home. Supplies will be provided.
