    The Yat Pack is a New Orleans based band modeled on the 60’s Vegas Swing Era.  They will perform classic big band numbers by Frank Sinatra, Louis Prima, Dean Martin, and Bobby Darin as well as contemporary artists like Michael Bublé, Billy Joel, and Harry Connick, Jr. They will also mix in a heavy dose of good old New Orleans R&B.  Thursdays at Twilight series showcases some of the finest musicians in New Orleans featuring an assortment of music styles.     Join your friends for free Zumba classes at the Peristyle in New Orleans City Park. New Orleans City Park, Elmwood Fitness Center, and Ochsner are excited to bring the community yet another way to exercise in the Park. Come ready to dance away stress and have some fun. Wear appropriate workout attire, gym shoes, and bring H2O as you’ll work up a sweat! Though the class will be offered rain or shine, should you be curious about a class please call 733-1600.
    Saturdays: January 7th through May 27th
    Time: 8 am until 8:45 am
    Where:  The Peristyle in New Orleans City Park (near the intersection of Dreyfous and Anseman)
    Cost: Free and no reservations are needed

  • Rose Pruning Demonstrations

    Come to the garden and learn how to prune roses!  The instructor, Susan Capley, will demonstrate and explain when, how, and why to prune your beloved roses. Susan will go over pruning methods addressing the needs of a hybrid tea rose to a New Orleans favorite: Old Garden Rose. Dress to be outside and wear comfortable shoes. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes and outdoor attire as some of the class is outdoors. The class begins at 10:30am and runs and hour. The class is $10/person and takes place in the Garden Study Center.  Registration is required. For details and to register please contact Susan at 483-9473 or scapley@nocp.org.
    A little about the instructor: Susan Capley is the Education Director at the New Orleans Botanical Garden for 9 years. She has been in the horticulture field for twenty five years and has worked in organic vegetable production, residential landscaping to Grounds Manager (Horticulturist) at the University of Kentucky Arboretum. Susan has a BS degree in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Kentucky.
