    Celebrate Halloween at City Putt with a round of mini golf and some extra treats! The event runs October 25, 26, 27 from 2pm to 9pm. For $9 per adult and $7 per child, enjoy a round of mini golf, a sweet treat and candy, craft table for the kids, and a free raffle ticket! Buy your tickets at the door.

Come ready to dance away stress and have some fun. Wear appropriate workout attire, gym shoes, and bring H2O as you’ll work up a sweat! Though the class will be offered rain or shine, should you be curious about a class please call 733-1600.

    Join us every Wednesday night in October for our hit series, "Evenings with Enrique" in The Helis Foundation Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden. Each week, "Evenings with Enrique" will feature local musicians playing among the collection of sculptures by the famed Mexican-American artist. Visitors to the garden will be able to view the work of Enrique Alférez under enhanced lighting and fire baskets suspended from the branches of the Live Oak tree.  This week features the Geovane Santos Trio, guitarist and singers from Brazil.  Latin food will be available from La Cocinita food truck.  Mojitos, wine and water are available for purchase

    New this October:  Chef Pat White of Karibu Kitchen will be cooking up treats in the wood-burning oven in the New Orleans Botanical Gardens’ recently opened "Kitchen in the Garden".  

    Chairs are encouraged. No outside food or drink please.  Enter through the Oscar J. Tolmas Center, 5 Victory Avenue.

  • Super Saturday Volunteer Day

    Join us for a morning of volunteering in New Orleans City Park! We cannot keep the Park looking as good as it does without the help from the community. Meet a little before 9am and work until noon. To sign up and get details on that day's meet-up location, contact Tyler Havens at thavens@nocp.org. Always wear closed-toe shoes and sunscreen and bring a water bottle. We are very appreciate of al of our volunteers.

  • Creating Bonsai from Garden Center Stock

    In this three hour hands on workshop, you will learn bonsai basics and you will create your very own bonsai tree. If you have ever wanted to learn the art of bonsai and how these living works of art are created, then this workshop is for you! Bring your own bonsai pot if you wish as special bonsai soil will be provided. What to bring: sharp pair of scissors, garden gloves, and apron. Soil, wire, and a Juniper will be provided. Class limit 15

    Jim Osborne is a native to New Orleans and an “Award Winning Bonsai Artist” winning the 2008 Vaughn Banting award.  He has served as a Board of Director for the past seven years and is past Vice-President and past President of the Bonsai Society. He has displayed his personal bonsai collection in the fall and spring New Orleans Botanical Garden Flower Show for many years. Jim has also displayed his bonsai at Art in Bloom in the New Orleans Museum of Art.

  • Allstate Sugar Bowl Tennis Classic

    WHAT:
    The Allstate Sugar Bowl Tennis Classic will be held at the City Park/Pepsi Tennis Center this month. The Allstate Sugar Bowl Tennis Classic is a USTA Southern Tournament that hosts female and male players ages 12 to 18 years old in both singles and doubles divisions. The Southern Section is made up of the following nine states: LA, MS, AL, GA, AK, KY, TN, NS, SC. The top ranked 32 players in each division from the Southern Section qualify to participate.

    The Allstate Sugar Bowl hosts and sponsors over 50 annual amateur athletic events to promote tourism and generate economic impact for the region.

    Representatives of the tournament and the Allstate Sugar Bowl will be present. There is no charge to the public to watch the matches.

    Registration is Friday the 8th
    Matches begin on Saturday the 9th and the semi finals and finals are Monday the 11th.

  • Super Plant Sale

    Fall is for planting! The New Orleans Botanical Garden is hosting a special plant sale in cooperation with LSU Ag Center this fall featuring only Louisiana Super Plants!

    Join your friends at the Botanical Garden Gift Shop on Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9 from 10 am to 4 pm daily.

    Choose from a full selection of cool-season bedding plants, shrubs, and  trees. Local LSU Ag agents Anna Timmerman and Dr. Joe Willis will be on hand along with specialist agents from around the state to answer your 'Super Plant' questions and more! Master Gardeners will also be available to assist with your questions and purchases.

    This sale is open to the public and has no admission fee.

    Since you'll already be at the garden entrance, come on in!
    Entrance to the garden is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 3-12, and free for children under 3.

    Kids ages 18 months – 4 years join us under the Alferez Oak in The New Orleans Botanical Garden for an hour of fun! Each meeting we will read a story, do a hands-on activity and have a healthy snack! $3 per child, Pay at the Oscar J. Tolmas Center. Adult chaperone required. Bring a small blanket or towel to sit on! Pre-registration is encouraged but not required.

  • Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation Beach Sweep 2019

    Each year the Ocean Conservancy hosts an INTERNATIONAL Coastal Cleanup Day. Beach Sweep is the biggest community cleanup in Southeastern Louisiana. Last year we picked up 58,665 lbs. of trash from our streets, catch basins, and waterways around the basin. Let's come together to care for their neighborhoods and areas that drain the Pontchartrain Basin. Together we'll clean curbs, ditches, and storm drains on city streets and rural roadways. Want to take part?! Participate as part of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (LPBF) Beach Sweep here in City Park!

    For anyone who would like to participate with us in City Park:

    2. Write “City Park” in the box that asks “Where will you be sweeping?”

    3. Meet us at the volunteer center 1031 Harrison Ave at 9:00am on 9/21/19 to sign in and pick up supplies.

    Join us for a fabulous garden experience!
    Growing Gardeners is our program for children ages six to nine who want to have some fun in our garden, and learn about—and play with—plants, food, and ecosystems
    There’s so much to do in the Botanical Garden, and we would love to help your child do it all. Classes cost $17 each, but are $14 when you register for six classes (three months) at one time.

  • Collecting Seed from Louisiana Native Plants

    Marc will discuss collecting and storing seed and some methods of propagating native wildflowers and grasses of Louisiana. He will touch on the requirements of specific species and will focus on those species that are hardest to grow. Feel free to bring questions about plants you may be interested in growing in your garden.

    Marc Pastorek is an environmentalist with a deep interest in natural systems and their restoration and management. He is co-founder of Pastorek Habitats, a landscape design and consulting firm that specializes in restoring native grassland habitat. Marc is a contributor to the new book Southeastern Grasslands: Biodiversity, Ecology and Management, University of Alabama press. He and his wife Candi operate their business as partners and live and garden in Covington, Louisiana.
