    ActivitiesBotanical GardenMusicThursdays at Twilight

John Robichaux a Creole, born in 1866 in Thibodeaux, was the leader of the premier society orchestra in New Orleans in the years prior to the birth of ragtime and jazz.  Orchestra leader Tom Hook re-creates the sounds of The John Robichaux Orchestra. Drawing largely upon European ballroom dance music, the John Robichaux Orchestra will perform marches, waltzes, schottisches, cakewalks, and quadrilles; the very music that would become the foundation of ragtime and subsequently New Orleans jazz. Thursdays at Twilight series showcases some of the finest musicians in New Orleans featuring an assortment of music styles.
