    Join kids ages 18 months to 4 years old under the Enrique Alférez Oak for storytime, activities, and a healthy snack. Kids won’t want to miss this! Enter through the Tolmas Visitor Center (5 Victory Avenue). This 'class' is the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Admission is needed for each child but the required adult chaperone is free. Consider bringing a blanket to sit on. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required To register or with questions, please contact nobgeducation@nocp.org.

    Introduce your little green thumbs to the world of gardening! The Growing Gardeners program introduces children to the fun of gardening while learning about (and playing with!) plants, food, and ecosystems. We'll play games, try new foods, create garden art, and more.

    The New Orleans Botanical Garden hosts plant sales with a wide variety of plants including annuals, perennials, roses, gingers, edibles, succulents, and native plants for sale to the public. Admission to the plant sale is free. The September Plant Sale takes place at the Pelican Greenhouse and is 9am to noon. Click the 'more information' to view infomation, plant lists, and for an insider tip. The Pelican Greenhouse is located at #2 Celebration Drive and is just south of the I-610 underpass.

    New Orleans City Park will host its 72nd annual Big Bass Rodeo, the oldest freshwater rodeo in the country.   • Louisiana Rainbow Iris Festival

    Horticulture lovers and gardening enthusiasts are invited to the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden for the annual Louisiana Rainbow Iris Festival, presented by NOMA and the Greater New Orleans Iris Society (GNOIS). Come view the newly-bloomed Louisiana irises in the lush sculpture garden. Visitors will have the opportunity to ask on-site iris experts any gardening-related question. Entry to the festival is free and open to the public. For more information, call 504.658.4100.

  • Spring Garden Show

    The annual Spring Garden Show in the New Orleans Botanical Garden invites visitors to explore the beautiful Botanical Garden, more than 50 horticultural exhibits, family friendly activities, and enjoy educational lectures. The festival includes plant sales, garden product sales, a Plant Health Clinic, a Children’s Discovery Zone, and live music on the Haspel Outdoor Stage.

    Two days: Saturday, April 6th 9 am to 5 pm & Sunday, April 7th, 10 am to 4 pm

    Enter through the Tolmas Center at 5 Victory Avenue

    Stroll through our Home TWEET Home birdhouse exhibit located in the Southern Shade Garden inside the New Orleans Botanical Garden. There will be a silent auction during the month of April where you can bid on  your favorite birdhouse daily from 10am-5pm in the Oscar J. Tolmas Visitors Center and during “Evenings with Enrique” from 5pm-8pm every Wednesday in April.

    Join us on April 13th OR April 14th for the 2019 Egg Scramble! This year the event is offered on 2 days! Be sure to get tickets for the correct date. This year's event is going to be egg-cellent! Over 36,000 eggs for your kids to find!
