  • Health and Play in the Garden

    Join us this summer at the New Orleans Botanical Garden for “Health and Play in the Garden!”
    Children ages 5-10 are welcome to join us Wednesday mornings for fun and learning as we explore a series on health and play. Topics and activities will include: Yoga by City Park Movement and Art, healthy eating and the food groups, too much sugar and junk foods, where do our fruits and vegetables come from, what parts of the plant do we eat, the importance of breakfast, hand washing and keeping the germs away, and where does our food go inside us. We will have games, arts, and crafts, gardening, snack making, garden walks, and reading! Classes will meet Wednesday mornings 10am – noon, August 20th.

  • Thursdays at Twilight - Gal Holiday and The Honky Tonk Revue

    The Honky Tonk Revue plays vintage Honky Tonk, Rockabilly and Classic Country music with a heavy dose of Western Swing.  They have a deep-seated love and appreciation for the tried and true Honky Tonk sound.  For more information about the singer/band please visit www.galholiday.com.

    This activity is at the New Orleans Museum of Art. NOMA’s Book Club meets in the Felix J. Dreyfous Library to read and discuss art-related fiction and non-fiction. This event is 11:30am till 1pm. Book Club members may buy their reading selections at the NOMA Museum Shop at a 20% discount.     Every Friday night, visit NOMA from 5-9pm for art activities and a variety of activities and performances which range from lectures, music performances, cooking demonstrations, art activities and films inspired by the current exhibitions.  Friday Nights at NOMA activities are free with museum admission.

  • Pilates in the Sculpture Garden

    NOMA has teamed up with the East Jefferson Wellness Center to offer wellness classes throughout the week.  This event is 8am till 9am. Saturday morning’s Pilates in the Sculpture Garden classes are taught in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden when weather allows.  The beginner friendly classes are $5 and free for NOMA and East Jefferson Wellness Center members.  To register for Pilates in the Sculpture Garden, call East Jefferson Healthfinders at (504) 456-5000.

  • Studio KIDS! “Figure It Out”

    Studio KIDS! art classes are offered to children ages 5-10.  This event is from 10am till noon. This activity is at the New Orleans Museum of Art. The classes explore NOMA’s galleries to meet different artists who will provide inspiration for art projects. Each class features a different medium, and participants will learn 2 and 3-dimensional techniques. Registration is available for one class or the entire series. Professional teaching artist, Belinda Tanno provides skill-building lessons and engaging projects. Cost per class is $25 members and $30 nonmembers, and classes are limited to 12 students.     Theme: Growing Gardeners: Exploring Composting
    Time: 10 am - noon
    Where:  Meet at the front entrance of the Botanical Garden

    Introduce your little green thumbs to the world of gardening! The Botanical Garden Growing Gardeners program introduces children to the fun of gardening while learning about (and playing with!) plants, food, and ecosystems.
    Age requirement: Children ages 6-9 welcome
    Class fee: $15 per class. $12 per class if you register for 6 classes at once! *When paying in advance classes do not need to be used consecutively.
