  • China Lights - Closing Night of the Event

    Closing Night :: Join us for a spectacular show! More than 30 extraordinary, blazingly bright silk covered structures will fill a large portion of our Botanical Garden with 100s of lighted lanterns.  Picture an incredible glowing dragon over 130-feet long! Or a four-story, lit-from-within pagoda towering high enough to be seen from almost any vantage point.  Plus dozens of dazzlingly colorful lighted displays created by a team of artisans and technical staff from Sichuan Tianyu, located in Zigong, China.

    Night time event hours: Sunday, Tuesday through Thursday open 6pm to 10pm and Friday & Saturday open 6pm to 11pm (Closed Mondays)
    In the New Orleans Botanical Garden in New Orleans City Park (Enter through the Tolmas center at 5 Victory Avenue).

    Night time event prices: Adults: $18.00; Children:  3 to 12 years old: $12.00; Under 3 years old: free (There are no discounts available.)
    Come hungry! We'll have Chinese food with New Orleans flair! Plus we'll have live entertainment each night and a gift shop.

    Tickets may be purchased at the Tolmas Center and online. Tickets are good for any night of the current season that the event is open. There is no refund due to rain, power outages, and other unforeseen conditions.

New Orleans City Park, Elmwood Fitness Center, and Ochsner are excited to bring the community yet another way to exercise in the Park. Come ready to dance away stress and have some fun. Wear appropriate workout attire, gym shoes, and bring H2O as you’ll work up a sweat! Rain or shine!

  • Super Saturday Volunteer Day

    ActivitiesVolunteering Events

    City Park hosts Super Saturday, a community volunteer event, and wants you to volunteer! Many groups from the community, including high schools, colleges, churches, service groups, and individuals, attend the event. Work assignments and tools are handed out at the Volunteer Center at 9am, and volunteers work until noon doing various tasks, including painting, pruning, raking, mulching, planting, and maintaining areas around City Park.
    Where to be: Volunteer Center at 1009 Harrison Avenue
    When to be there: 8:45am (work begins promptly at 9am)
    Who to call with questions or to sign up: Tyler at (504) 483-9459
    What to bring: Close-toed shoes or boots, a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, a brimmed hat, and snacks (if you’d like some).
    Why: Because volunteering for City Park feels great!

    Introduce your little green thumbs to the world of gardening! The Botanical Garden Growing Gardeners program introduces children to the fun of gardening while learning about (and playing with!) plants, food, and ecosystems.
