    Art on the Spot 5-8pm
    Music: Arpa Quartet, 5:30-8:30pm
    Lecture:  “Murals as Public Address: The Hale Woodruff Murals in Context,” by Rebecca Lee Reynolds, PhD, Asst. Professor of Fine Arts at UNO, 6pm
    Lecture “Influence of Hale Woodruff on African American Artists” by Dr. Sara Hollis, Professor M.A. Museum Studies Program Southern University at New Orleans, 7:30pm
    Every Friday night, visit NOMA from 5-9pm for art activities and a variety of activities and performances which range from lectures, music performances, cooking demonstrations, art activities and films inspired by the current exhibitions.  Friday Nights at NOMA activities are free with museum admission.

    NOMA has teamed up with the East Jefferson Wellness Center to offer wellness classes throughout the week.  This event run 8am till 9am. Saturday morning’s Pilates in the Sculpture Garden classes are taught in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden when weather allows.  The beginner friendly classes are $5 and free for NOMA and East Jefferson Wellness Center members.  To register for Pilates in the Sculpture Garden, call East Jefferson Healthfinders at (504) 456-5000.

    The Pelican Greenhouse is located just off Henry Thomas (Golf) Drive just south of the I-610 underpass. Bring a wagon and arrive early for best selection. The Plant Sale from 9:00am to noon.   • Studio KIDS! at NOMA

    Studio KIDS! “Boxed In”
    This activity is at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Studio KIDS! art classes are offered to children ages 5-10.  This event runs from 10am till noon. The classes explore NOMA’s galleries to meet different artists who will provide inspiration for art projects. Each class features a different medium, and participants will learn 2 and 3-dimensional techniques. Registration is available for one class or the entire series. Professional teaching artist, Belinda Tanno provides skill-building lessons and engaging projects. Cost per class is $25 members and $30 nonmembers, and classes are limited to 12 students.   • Making Plants: Plant Propagation 101

    Making plants is as easy as making groceries. Come join us at the botanical garden to learn about plant propagation through seed, cuttings and division. Take home an assortment of plants from our garden to yours. The class is Saturday, September 6, from 10am to 11:30am. The class is $15/person. The class takes place in the Garden Study Center in the New Orleans Botanical Garden. There is a limit of 25 people per class. Please register ahead of time by calling 483-9473 or emailing scapley@nocp.org. The instructor for this class is Susan L. Capley, Education Director, New Orleans Botanical Garden in City Park.

    **Pre-registration is required for all classes to ensure that a class is not canceled due to low enrollment. **

    Introduce your little green thumbs to the world of gardening! The Botanical Garden Growing Gardeners program introduces children to the fun of gardening while learning about (and playing with!) plants, food, and ecosystems.
    Age requirement: Children ages 6-9 welcome
    Class fee: $15 per class. $12 per class if you register for 6 classes at once! *When paying in advance classes do not need to be used consecutively.
