  • Thursdays at Twilight - Paul Sanchez

    Native New Orleanian Paul Sanchez was born in the blue-collar Irish Channel across the street from the Mississippi River. Today Paul defies categories and is noted as an actor, songwriter, singer, producer, writer and musician, with 11 solo CDs under his belt. In January of 2010 Off Beat Magazine awarded him three Best Of The Beat Awards: Songwriter of The Year, Best Song Of The Year, Best Folk/Rock Album for “Stew Called New Orleans”, his duet record with friend and collaborator John Boutte.  For more information about the singer/band please visit www.paulsanchez.com.

  • Fairytale Fridays: Fairy Godmother’s Tea Party

    You and the kids are invited to join us at the Castle in Storyland for a performance by Fairy Godmother Merrilypop and The Storyland Theatrical Players. Get ready for magic, family activities, nursery rhyme karaoke, stories. No registration needed but costumes are encouraged. Party/event is included in the price of admission to Storyland.  Buy tickets ahead of time by clicking the ticket icon to the left of this paragraph. Fairytale Fridays are 3:30pm till 6pm.
    Admission to Storyland is $4/person; Kids 36 inches and under get free admission; Friends of City Park get free admission.
    While you’re in Storyland don’t forget to try the all new Parker’s Café in Carousel Gardens!

    Every Friday night, visit NOMA from 5-9pm for art activities and a variety of activities and performances which range from lectures, music performances, cooking demonstrations, art activities and films inspired by the current exhibitions.  Friday Nights at NOMA activities are free with museum admission.

    NOMA has teamed up with the East Jefferson Wellness Center to offer wellness classes throughout the week.  This event runs 8am through 9am. Saturday morning’s Pilates in the Sculpture Garden classes are taught in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden when weather allows.  The beginner friendly classes are $5 and free for NOMA and East Jefferson Wellness Center members.  To register for Pilates in the Sculpture Garden, call East Jefferson Healthfinders at (504) 456-5000.

    Theme: Growing Gardeners: Desert Days
    Time: 10 am – noon
    Where:  Meet at the front entrance of the Botanical Garden

    Introduce your little green thumbs to the world of gardening! The Botanical Garden Growing Gardeners program introduces children to the fun of gardening while learning about (and playing with!) plants, food, and ecosystems.
    Age requirement: Children ages 6-9 welcome
    Class fee: $15 per class. $12 per class if you register for 6 classes at once! *When paying in advance classes do not need to be used consecutively.

    Join us this summer at the New Orleans Botanical Garden for “Health and Play in the Garden!”
    Children ages 5-10 are welcome to join us Wednesday mornings for fun and learning as we explore a series on health and play. Topics and activities will include: Yoga by City Park Movement and Art, healthy eating and the food groups, too much sugar and junk foods, where do our fruits and vegetables come from, what parts of the plant do we eat, the importance of breakfast, hand washing and keeping the germs away, and where does our food go inside us. We will have games, arts, and crafts, gardening, snack making, garden walks, and reading! Classes will meet Wednesday mornings 10am – noon, July 30th, and August 6th, 13th, 20th. Join us for one, a few or all classes – it’s up to you!
