    NOMA has teamed up with the East Jefferson Wellness Center to offer wellness classes throughout the week.  This event runs 6pm through 7pm. Monday evening’s Tai Chi/Chi Kung classes are taught in the museum and, when weather allows, in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden.  The beginner friendly classes are $5 and free for NOMA and East Jefferson Wellness Center members.  To register for Tai Chi/Chi Kung, call East Jefferson Healthfinders at (504) 456-5000.

    It's the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles playing in City Park! Time to celebrate! 

    Get ready to “Twist N Shout” in your favorite ‘60s era attire while reliving the wildly popular, sold-out show from one of the greatest and most influential rock groups of all time – The Beatles!

    Fifty years ago to the day, thousands of frenzied fans experienced the concert of a lifetime at City Park Stadium (Tad Gormley) – WYES is thrilled to recreate those feelings with the help of The Fab Four.

    The Fab Four, a Beatles tribute band, was founded in 1997 in Southern California. The band has brought the music of The Beatles to many places including Japan, Malaysia, France, Hong Kong, The United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Mexico and Brazil. PBS stations nationwide, including WYES-TV, have included their concerts during special pledge times.

    “Come together” for this fun 50th anniversary tribute concert and sing along to your favorite Beatles tunes such as: I Want To Hold Your Hand, Hard Days Night, Eight Days A Week, Can’t Buy Me Love, Help, With a Little Help From My Friends, Penny Lane, Hey Jude and more!

    This activity is at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Noontime Talk on Behind Closed Doors with Lucia Abramovich, Curatorial Fellow for Spanish Colonial Art
    Noontime Talks give visitors a chance to discuss exhibitions with the curator.  The Q&A is a great way for visitors to learn more about the exhibit and the process of bringing it to NOMA.  Noontime Talks are free with museum admission.

    Book Club Discussion Group, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet: a Novel by David Mitchell
    This activity is at the New Orleans Museum of Art. NOMA’s Book Club meets in the Felix J. Dreyfous Library to read and discuss art-related fiction and non-fiction. This event runs 11:30am through 1pm. Book Club members may buy their reading selections at the NOMA Museum Shop at a 20% discount.     Friday Nights at NOMA: Movies in the Garden
    This activity is at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
    Art on the Spot: 5-8 p.m.
    Discussion: Alexis Rockman with Brett Littman, Executive Director of the Drawing Center, 6 p.m. (in the auditorium)
    Artful Palate Cooking Demo: 6:30pm
    Film: Sunset Boulevard, at sundown
    Every Friday night, visit NOMA from 5-9pm for art activities and a variety of activities and performances which range from lectures, music performances, cooking demonstrations, art activities and films inspired by the current exhibitions.  Friday Nights at NOMA activities are free with museum admission.

  • Martini Madness

    Join the Madness!  With guests gathered to sample 30 specialty martinis and enjoy delicious cuisine from 25 different New Orleans restaurants, it is a blast waiting to happen!  The event takes place from 8 to 11pm and features exciting raffle prizes, photo booth fun, a DJ to get help you get down on the dance floor and more.  All proceeds will fund the installation and decoration of the new Ladybug Rollercoaster station in Carousel Gardens Amusement Park.

    Tickets are available to adults 21 years old or over for $50 general admission, $45 for FOCP members or $75 “Before the Madness” that includes reserved seating, VIP bar, and an extra hour of fun from 7 PM – 8 PM.     Studio KIDS! “I’ll Fly Away”
    Studio KIDS! art classes are offered to children ages 5-10.  This activity is at the New Orleans Museum of Art. This event is from 10am till noon. The classes explore NOMA’s galleries to meet different artists who will provide inspiration for art projects. Each class features a different medium, and participants will learn 2 and 3-dimensional techniques. Registration is available for one class or the entire series. Professional teaching artist, Belinda Tanno provides skill-building lessons and engaging projects. Cost per class is $25 members and $30 nonmembers, and classes are limited to 12 students.     Introduce your little green thumbs to the world of gardening! The Botanical Garden Growing Gardeners program introduces children to the fun of gardening while learning about (and playing with!) plants, food, and ecosystems.
    Age requirement: Children ages 6-9 welcome
    Class fee: $15 per class. $12 per class if you register for 6 classes at once! *When paying in advance classes do not need to be used consecutively.
