  • “Net-works” (Botanical Garden)

    ActivitiesBotanical GardenEducationNature

The September Inspire Speaker Series brings "Net-Works," a sustainability focused program of Interface. It's not just about beach cleanup, though that is a vital piece. Net-Works is also helping the villagers establish new financial opportunities by providing an additional income stream as well as supporting the creation of community banking.
Net-Works is the first step in creating a truly restorative loop in carpet tile production, cleaning up oceans and beaches while also creating financial opportunities for some of the poorest people in the world.
Over 660 million people on the planet depend upon the oceans to support their livelihood. But year after year, pollution in our waters and beaches gets worse.
Pioneering a model of inclusive business, Interface has partnered with the Zoological Society of London, yarn producer Aquafil, and Project Seahorse to build a closed loop around sourcing raw materials for our carpet, and get us one step closer to achieving Mission Zero. The class is Wednesday, September 10 from 6pm to 7pm. The cost per person is $10 for USGBC Louisiana members and $15 for members of the public. This event takes place in the Garden Study Center in the New Orleans Botanical Garden.
