Hurricane Katrina

City Park experienced serious damage from Hurricane Katrina. Our grounds, trees, infrastructure, records, computers, plantings, and facilities all required significant cleanup and repair. Because of the damage to the Park and the area, City Park was unable to generate revenue for a significant period of time following the storm. Many areas still require work to return them to operation. Postings in this section detail the destruction to our facilities, equipment, Botanical Garden plant collection, our archives, and the impact on our staff.
