Master Naturalists Volunteer in City Park - New Orleans City Park

Master Naturalists Volunteer in City Park

On the third Saturday of each month, Master Naturalist volunteers partner with New Orleans City Park staff to remove invasive camphor trees from Scout Island.

Volunteers spend their time cutting or digging out camphor tree saplings around forested areas of City Park. In keeping with City Park’s mission to remove invasive species, our goal for this partnership is to reduce the invasiveness so native trees and shrubbery can germinate and thrive. If we succeed, then wildlife, especially birdlife, will increase in numbers and variety.

We truly appreciate our Master Naturalist volunteers for their expertise and enthusiasm on this project!
