Botanical Garden Adult Tours

Adult Classes
How to sign up and pay for NOBG adult classes, workshops, or tours:
By phone: To register and pay for a class or tour by phone, call (504) 483-9473. Please have the title of the class and credit card information available.

At the door: Pre-registration is appreciated, but walk-ins are accepted as long as there is no class size limit.

You may also pay on arrival at the class. If you wish to pay on arrival, please call Susan Capley at (504) 483-9473 or e-mail and leave your name, phone number, and the date and title of the class you are signing up for. When paying at the door, class payments must be made by check payable to NOBG (New Orleans Botanical Garden). Cash payments are not accepted unless classes are between 10am and 4pm on Tuesday through Sunday.

Workshops: Full payment must be received two weeks before the workshop. If you must cancel your registration, inform us as quickly as possible so we can notify someone on our waiting list. No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than five (5) working days before the workshop.

Cancellations of classes: 
If a class does not reach minimum registration level, the class may be canceled at the garden’s discretion. You will receive a phone call and/or e-mail notification, and any registration fees will be refunded or used as credit for another class
Class/workshop/tour locations: 
Classes are conducted in the Garden Study Center; workshops take place in the Garden Study Center, Lath House or Pelican Greenhouse; and tour groups meet at the Gift Shop entrance.

**Please note: All money collected for classes, workshops and tours goes back into our education program. There is no discount for Friends of City Park. Discounts are given to Garden Volunteers and Master Gardeners in continuing education.

Botanical Garden Tour
The Botanical Garden Tour takes visitors on a meandering walk through the grounds of the historic garden. The tour covers the history of the garden (including information about this Works Progress Administration-funded project) and various exhibits and plant collections throughout the garden. This walking tour lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours and departs from the entrance of the Botanical Garden. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing suited for the weather. 

Ancient Tree Tour of City Park
The Ancient Tree Tour walks visitors through the majestic stand of live oaks growing along City Park Avenue, the largest and oldest trees in City Park. Each live oak is named for a notable person in City Park’s history, and on this tour visitors learn about these benefactors and the fascinating history of our beloved park and city. This walking tour lasts approximately 1-1.5 hours and departs from the Dueling Oaks, located on the left side of the Bestoff Sculpture Garden.

Group Tours:
$16/person with groups of 10 people minimum
$14/person with groups of 20 or more people
$12/person groups of 30 or more people
$25/person individuals

Garden Clubs and Friends of City Park
$14/person groups of 10-20 people
$12/person groups of 20 or more people.

All tours are by appointment, Monday through Saturday.



Big Lake in City Park is a man-made lake designed to mimic the shape of Lake Pontchartrain.
