Louisiana Outdoors Outreach Program (LOOP NOLA)
LOOP NOLA provides positive, life-changing outdoor experiences for children and youth in Greater New Orleans. It is the only area nonprofit organization that provides year-round opportunities for urban children and youth to grow through outdoor adventures and to learn about their regional ecosystem. We partner with elementary, middle and high schools to engage classes in a series of academically linked and customizable adventure-based activities.
With support from New Orleans City Park and Louisiana's Office of State Parks, LOOP NOLA applies the principles of expeditionary learning to teach social and emotional skills, technical skills, and academic enhancement to youth in the city. LOOP NOLA's serves over 1,000 students annually with programming that spans second grade to high school, and includes canoeing, camping, fishing, teambuilding activities and swimming excursions throughout the region. LOOP NOLA also manages the Challenge Course at City Park, where low and high ropes elements are used for youth instruction and adult professional development.
