Sure, we’re a little biased, but we truly believe there’s no prettier place in New Orleans to get fit than City Park. With a gorgeous landscape designed for walkers, runners and bikers, your workout doesn’t feel like work at all when you hit the scenic paths around the park.
Want to run a few laps? Built for the 1992 Olympic Trials, the City Park Track is a 400-meter polyurethane track perfect for walkers and runners. The one-mile Festival Grounds path and the three-quarter mile path around Big Lake path are accessible to all (walking, running, biking) and combine getting active with great scenery. Don't miss Couturie Forest's trails either. With a 60 acre forest in the heart of New Orleans, you won't even realize you're in a big city.
Bike the Park
City Park’s four miles of bike paths take riders from Bayou St. John to Lake Pontchartrain. No bike? No problem. Rent a bike at the Boathouse on Big Lake.
Hop on a Blue Bike and cruise the city you love! Get info on Blue Bikes here. You can also use that link to view if there are bike currenlty avalible in either spot. Work up a sweat!
While we're talking excercise, be sure to check out the two Fitness Zones in the park. The first is near the corner of Golf Drive and Freidricks Avenue located on the Festival Grounds. Parts are covered to allow use during an in-character Summer shower or sunny day in New Orleans.
The second is on Stadium Drive and was provided by the Friends of City Park. Each are guaranteed to provide the best setting amongst the City Park trees.
